The Now That’s What I Call Music! series may be in danger due to the takeover of EMI by Universal.
The iconic pop compilation series, which began in 1983, could end with the release of Now 83 this November unless a buyer steps in to save it.
Although there had been hits compilations before, the Now series was the first to involve collaboration between all the major labels, leading to an unprecedented number of hits per release (the first proudly boasted a hitherto unheard of “11 number ones” on the cover).
People still buy these ?!
Yep.
Bit of Mr Googling and Now 82 has been the highest selling long_one in the UK so far this year.
