The guy who wants you to leave your mobiles at the door when attending his live shows and isn’t that concerned about trending on Twitter has now come out as anti-festivist.

The JACK WHITE has called festivals “a necessary evil” and has admitted that he doesn’t actually enjoy playing them very much.

They’re a necessary evil in the business. I don’t get excited about festivals – they’re not my favourite place to play. A lot of people come to them and there’s all these pros to them. You get exposure to people who would never come and see you and the organisers offer bands a lot of money so they can’t say no, but they’re not my first choice to perform music.

Everyone’s drinking and lazing in the sun and walking around and that’s a fun thing for them but it’s not interesting for me. I’m not trying to be negative, it’s just never been too exciting for me.

Sure he enjoys invoicing them post-festivaling.

Personally I’d enjoy festivals more if the majority of the audience weren’t boozed-up douchebag metheads with skanky female hangers-on.
