via the LAST FM she got .. a 15-year-old future pop sensation from a sleepy little village in rural Essex. “I might be young, but I’m really not some blonde little dolly girl,” she says. “And I’m not gonna be a helpless artist. I know what I want, and the only way it’ll come out that way is if I do it.”

It’s long been standing-room only on the psych-folk bandwagon, but few of that subgenre’s recent exponents have come close to matching the debut from Swedish songwriter Lisa Isaakson. On Cinnamon Sea, Narnian harmonies and an air of wintry wonderment defy you not to give yourself wholly to what you’re hearing. On The Party, she sings: “We’re gonna play the most wonderful music you’ve ever heard.” Four songs in, it’s a promise that she’s already honouring.

the MARILYN MANSON aint getting good a write-up in the today’s the GUARDIAN no no no.
her long_one got a 1* review ..
“Away from music, Marilyn Manson has proved himself to be an articulate, engaging and intelligent man, so after more than a decade of separating sulky teens from their pocket money, it would be nice if he could throw us a curve ball once in a while. Like, say, a dubstep album, or a collection of pagan neofolk songs; anything other than the usual entry-level shock-rock histrionics. But, unfortunately, the Marilyn Manson blueprint holds fast, and all the familiar elements are here: vaguely transgressive lyrics (“You’re as pretty as a swastika”), raspy, downbeat verses followed by shouty, stomp-up-the-stairs-and-slam-the-bedroom-door choruses. The difference is that even Manson sounds unconvinced by his “antichrist superstar” persona; maybe because his target demographic have grown up and moved on. Perhaps he should, too.”

the THE HORRORS sophobore long_one is getting all round and round support, the latest being a 4**** review in today’s GUARDIAN.
“They live! Left for dead after a hype overdose two years ago, Southend’s ghost-train garage-rockers have risen again with a second album so daring and accomplished that one is tempted to credit their new producer, Portishead’s Geoff Barrow, with Svengaliesque powers of mind control. Even at their most ordinary, they now sound like the Psychedelic Furs featuring Kevin Shields, which is no bad thing. But the biggest surprise, given their prior commitment to brevity, is how fully they inhabit the longer songs. I Only Think of You is a colossal trance-rock nod-out revolving around a scraping cello drone, and Sea Within a Sea’s ascendant krautrock – Can by way of the last Portishead album – is several kinds of wonderful. The Horrors’ excellent taste, from Spacemen 3 to the Shangri-Las, was never in doubt, but who could have guessed they would metabolise their influences with such bold panache?”
